Critical Skills - Supporting the Local Industry
Since 2002 over 600 local businesses have worked with Critical Skills In this time, 9359 learners enrolled on amazing 46,354 courses and 40,929 courses completed. It focussed on some key industrial specialisms. For example, 120 local tradesman have gained their CSCS card to help the construction trade improve quality and to reduce accidents within the industry. Furthermore, in excess of 1000 qualifications have been achieved by Fork Lift Truck operatives or people who work in local warehouses- The UK Government is working towards creating a culture of demand for skills- where young people, adults and employers demand skills and qualifications because they recognise their social and economic benefits. Director-General of the CBI, Richard Lambert said; “This is an amazing achievement for June, her team of staff and the partners of Critical Skills who should all feel justifiably proud. There are 3 key players essential for the growth of the UK economy; the Government and public sector to provide funding for critical skills, such as literacy and numeracy, secondly the business sector, who must be committed to training and finally individual learners. Critical Skills are the managing agent to bring all three parties together and this is reflected in what they have achieved. It’s essential that the UK raises its game in an increasingly competitive global market and Critical Skills is helping us do just that.”
