RIPH Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
According to the Food Standards Agency (FSA) food poisoning affects an estimated 5.5 million people per year. Food poisoning costs the economy, including employers and the NHS, at least £350 million a year. By achieving the RIPH Basic Food Hygiene qualification you will have the skills and abilities to comply with current legislation for food hygiene and safety. On completion of the test you will be able to show that you understand the importance of food safety that you're aware of food hazards and how to avoid them and most importantly that you can handle, process, and prepare food safely.
STAGE ONE
Attend a 2 week theory training programme to equip you with job ready skills identifying areas where you can get ahead at work, and increase your job prospects. You will undertake a range of courses and training, and you could gain a number of job specific skills such as;
- Numeracy Certificate
- Literacy Certificate
- CV Writing
- Interview Techniques
- IT and Computer Training
- Theory Training towards your Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
STAGE TWO
Upon completion of your theory training and having undergone Basic Food Hygiene practice training you will undergo Test Preparation training online in a simulated test environment before embarking on your test. During the test you will need to answer a total of 30 questions in 45 minutes. You must score at least 20 marks out of a possible 30 to pass the assessment. If you score 26 or more you will achieve a pass with credit.
The course will be free if you are in receipt of a means tested benefit, such as Job Seekers Allowance, Income Support, Pension Guarantee, Housing or Council Tax Benefits, Working Tax Credit, Disabled Persons Tax Credit, or you are an unwaged dependant of anyone in receipt of the above means tested benefits.
